Attention Aucklanders. We recognise you have all been doing it tough lately, and we know you have missed out on some racing opportunities which we understand must be really hard. After yesterday’s government announcement, we realise many of you who were planning to attend and race at the AEC Novice Tour of Manawatu on 30-31 October won’t be able to travel. This event is Race #2 of the NRS and it’s a Bonus Race. Earlier this month was Race #1 of the NRS; the Yunca Junior Tour and we know you also missed attending this event due to lockdown restrictions.

Unfortunately there isn’t anything we can do to give you back these races you’ve missed, and while we know your disappointment is more around missing out on racing and seeing your friends, what we can give you is a chance to not miss out on the bonus points.

So, just for our Auckland riders, the first two NRS events you attend in 2022 are going to become your bonus races. The placing you come in these two NRS events, will allow you to pick up normal NRS points + you have the opportunity to gain the number of bonus points of your placing. Say you come 6th at Race #3; the Tasman Junior Tour, you’ll pick up the normal points + 7 bonus points for placing 6th (see the points tab on the NRS website for the points tables).

You don’t need to do anything here, we will find anyone from Auckland who attends the upcoming NRS events, use the first two events you race at in 2022 and we will work out if you’ve picked up any bonus points and add this onto your series total.

If any other regions are unable to travel to the AEC Novice Tour of Manawatu next weekend due to Covid-19 restrictions, the same rule will apply for you also.

Right now we can understand the frustration you would be feeling, so we want to try and help by providing a small opportunity which hopefully helps to make things more even and fair across the country. We feel for you, we are here to support you and we appreciate what you have been doing to help our country break through the effects of Covid-19. While frustrating you can’t make these competitions, remember why you love riding your bike, because it’s fun and for the freedom and independence it enables.
