EXPRESSION OF INTEREST TO BID FOR UCI MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD CUP 2021-2022

UCI have released their bid information for UCI Mountain Bike World Cup series for the 2021/2022 season and are inviting applications from organisers that have received an endorsement from their national federation.

Cycling New Zealand are open to providing an endorsement and their support to an organiser/s who can demonstrate their understanding and commitment required to host a UCI World Cup event. 

Those interested in applying for the endorsement of Cycling New Zealand should ensure they have read the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup – Bidding Guide (updated 21st February) and the 2019 Organisers guide (for reference) in conjunction with the complete Expression of Interest document here

This application is to receive the required endorsement from Cycling New Zealand to validate an application to the UCI.  The Event will not automatically be granted an endorsement, it is subject to the evaluation of the evidence provided and that the appropriate degree of due diligence and understanding of the requirements has been demonstrated.  

This endorsement does not guarantee the UCI will award an event to the organiser.  A formal bid, in accordance with the bid guide, is still required to be submitted to the UCI.  

Cycling New Zealand will not endorse any application that are sent directly to the UCI.

 

KEY TIME LINES:

  • 15 March - EOI to be received by Cycling New Zealand
  • 20 March - Cycling New Zealand to review applications and advise all applicants of decisions.
  • 20 March - Cycling New Zealand to provide letter of endorsement to the successful applicant (if any)
  • 25 March - Successful organisers to submit their bid in accordance with the attached bidding guide to UCI


CYCLING NEW ZEALAND TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Agreement to meet the requirements of the Event Certification program and deliver the event in accordance with the UCI Organisation requirements.
  • Accept a Cycling New Zealand representative on the organising board or advisory committee (dependant on the governance structure)
  • Work respectively and in collaboration with Cycling New Zealand


APPLICATION DETAILS:

Expressions of Interest are invited from Cycling New Zealand Affiliated Clubs or Event Organisers.  There may be additional information required for the successful application to be submitting to UCI.

 

Applications should include:

  • Organisation applying
  • Key contacts
  • The date and discipline event you are applying for
  • Key reasons for applying and event objectives
  • Confirmation you have sited and reviewed the bid guide and referenced the 2019 Organisational guide
  • Proposed courses and venue facilities
  • Proposed governance and LOC structure
  • Provisional budget
  • Relevant event delivery experience
  • Demonstrate high level of risk planning
  • Confirmation of local council support.
  • Confirmation of acceptance to the Cycling New Zealand conditions
