National Track Series to go ahead with restricted entries.

This event is scheduled to take place on 9 – 11 October in Invercargill.

As with all of you we have been monitoring the government’s ongoing response to Covid-19 including the Alert Levels around the country and the ability to deliver this event safely and within the intent of the guidelines.

While our host region (Southland) is currently in Alert Level 1 with no restrictions on gatherings, the government have reiterated that Aucklanders should take their Alert Level (currently Alert Level 2) settings with them when travelling out of Auckland. This includes the limitation on Aucklanders attending gatherings of more than 100 people in or outside their region.

We are committed to delivering this event and are currently planning to deliver this in a way that supports the intent of the guidelines and enables and supports Aucklanders to attend.

While the size and nature of recent events have been unable to accommodate these restrictions we are able to do this due to the expected number of riders and our ability to restrict accredited personal in the infield of the velodrome to keep this below 100.

Our current entries and required support staff fall under these limits and we do have limited space to accept a small number of extra entries.

Further management and hygiene practices will be in place to continue to support the health response with more details to be sent to confirmed riders next week.

Preference for these remaining slots will be given to travelling U19 and U17 riders. To support this planning we have temporarily suspended online entries and invite any riders who wishes to be considered for these remaining entries to contact us no later than 5pm Thursday. Please email events@cyclingnewzealand.nz with your name, address, age group, and sprint or endurance. Confirmation of an entry will be made by 10am on Friday.

The next government announcement on the Auckland Alert Level is due 5 October with any changes effective 11.59pm 7 October. In the event that these restrictions are lifted, entries will be reopened for short window for all remaining interested riders.
