Cycling New Zealand runs development programmes at stages throughout the year – details will be uploaded to this page as and when programmes open.  Invitations to apply for development programmes are promoted on our social media pages, and extended via email to our clubs and members database.

Cycling New Zealand Athlete Development Opportunities
 
The following list provides an overview of the type of development opportunities Cycling New Zealand delivers / has teams participating in each year.  The schedule includes dates and deadlines for the current year where relevant, and, while specific dates will vary year to year, the overall schedule will likely remain the same. 
 
 
Athlete Development Camps

North Island Camp
 
22-24 March 2019
U17
Camp will run from 5pm, Friday the 22nd based at the Avantidrome in Cambridge and finish up on Sunday afternoon following the Morrinsville mini tour.
 
The focus will be on Technical development, Race planning and organisation.
 
Please organise your own accommodation or billeting for the duration of the camp.
 
Please enter the Morrinsville mini tour here. If we have enough attendees we will run a separate U17 category, but enter any grade for now.

Regional Camps
U17 male & female
These camps are aimed at long term development of cyclists and will be focusing on technical and tactical development. 
 
Numbers are limited and will be subject to selection.

National Camp
U17 male & female
Requirements - Riders will have demonstrated the capability to make the most of the camp & workshops aimed at developing riders for the future through competition performance and attitude at regional camps.

The team will travel from the 8th until the 13th of May and the costs are likely to be around $3500 per person.

ITS Melbourne U19s Anzac Cup

Track racing and development opportunity for U19 centre riders. Some of the best U19 racing you’ll take part in and a great Tier 1 event for Elite men & women.

European Tour

- U19 male
Based in France, this campaign will take in regional racing and culminate in a National Junior Tour.
 
The key objectives of this trip are:
  • Experience travel and living in a foreign cycling environment
  • Visibility of riders to teams for future
  • Experience a variety of competitions that grow on and off bike racing understanding physically, tactically, technically and psychologically
  • Living and operating in a team environment
All expenses for this trip must be covered by the selected riders and although still finalising these costs they are expected to be between $5000-7500NZD per rider.
 
More details will be sent out to applicants over the next couple of weeks as they are finalised.
