Cycling New Zealand acknowledges life member’s contribution

Cycling New Zealand wishes to pass our sympathies to the family and Canterbury Cycling community on the passing of Cycling Road, Track and Cyclocross life member Bruce Dawe.

Bruce made a significant contribution to cycling in Canterbury and to Cycling New Zealand over many decades, and was richly deserved when recognised with a Queens Service Medal in 1988.

Bruce and his wife Amy were constant volunteers on the cycling scene, not just in Canterbury but around the country, from school cycling to national and other major events throughout the country. They were particularly passionate about ensuring opportunities for young riders beginning their cycling journeys and are responsible for many people's longevity in the sport.

Volunteers are crucial to cycling at all levels in New Zealand, and our sport is very much richer for the contribution that Bruce made to officials and riders alike.
