Campbell Stewart announces his retirement

“After 15 years of racing bikes, the time has come for me to close this chapter and retire from professional cycling.

“From the track to the road, this sport has taken me places I could only dream of as a kid. I've been lucky enough to represent New Zealand at the Olympics, win a world championship, take home a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics, and race professionally on the road, along with so many other incredible moments.

“There are so many people to thank, but a special thank you to Cycling New Zealand and GreenEdge Cycling for the opportunities, support, and belief you've given me throughout my career.

“A very special thank you to Mike McRedmond. You've been there since the very beginning, providing guidance, support, and advice throughout my journey. Your belief in me, especially in the early years, helped shape the athlete and person I've become, and I'll always be grateful for that.

“To my coaches, teammates, staff, sponsors, friends, family, and fans — thank you for everything. I couldn't have done it without you.

“I'm incredibly grateful for everything cycling has given me, and I'll always carry it with me.

“Here's to the next adventure - Campbell.”
