Concussion

All disciplines of cycling and at all levels from recreational to high performance have a risk of falls from bikes. This can occur during competition, training and recreational riding.

The most important consideration is the wellbeing and safety of the rider. There is also collective responsibility with all parties having a role to play in identifying riders of concern and ensuring proper management

NEW- Online Concussion Module

This module is designed to help riders, coaches, parents, and support staff understand, recognise, and respond to concussion in cycling. Using real-life scenarios, short quizzes, and interactive activities, you’ll learn how concussion can occur, what signs to look for, and what steps to take to ensure a safe and effective recovery and return to cycling.

Grounded in guidance from the Concussion in Sport Group, HPSNZ Concussion Collective, and ACC SportSmart, this course empowers everyone in the Cycling NZ community to play their part in keeping riders safe on and off the bike.
