
UCI TRACK CYCLING JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – NEW ZEALAND WRAP DAY 2
It proved a quiet second day for the New Zealand team at the UCI Junior Track World Championships in Cali, Colombia.
Sprinters Caitlin Kelly (11.657s) and Jodie Blackwood (11.759s) were 15th and 17th fastest respectively in the 200m flying lap qualifying for the individual sprint. Kelly won her first round ride against Nur Alyssa Hoha Farid (MAS) but lost out in the second round with Blackwood eliminated in the first round by Korea’s Yunseo Na.
Meanwhile Austin Norwell was pipped by one spot from making the final of the men’s scratch race.
Earlier Italy won the men’s team pursuit when they caught Germany in the final, while Canada beat Switzerland for the bronze. New Zealand were placed sixth.
Tomorrow features New Zealanders in the men’s individual pursuit and points race and women’s omnium.
