This is an update on the status of the upcoming Criterium National Championships scheduled to take place in Christchurch on the 14th November 2021.

We recognise Covid-19 continues to significantly impact the ability for many events to take place in this environment. We have been working through the situation as it has unfolded with Christchurch City Council, and other key stakeholders, and have agreed that for the safety of our riders, as well as the Christchurch community, and in support of the government restrictions, the Criterium National Championships will be postponed to Sunday 16th January 2022.

The postponement date coincides with the Canterbury Track Cycling Carnival on Saturday 15th January, which creates a great opportunity for a weekend of racing in Christchurch. Keep an eye out on the Canterbury Track Cycling website for more information. Thank you to Canterbury Track Cycling for supporting the postponement of the Vantage Criterium National Championships.

We would also like to thank Christchurch City Council, the local businesses and community for their support of this event.

We acknowledge the impact of Covid on our cycling community, in particularly riders from Auckland, has been significant over the past two years and in more recent times. We recognise that the postponement of this event is disappointing, and our thoughts are with you all.

Our desire to resume racing is strong and we are committed to supporting all our riders, and the objectives of this championships, while also supporting the Government Guidelines (and the intent of the guidelines) and the national health response to Covid-19.

Riders that have entered already and cannot commit to the postponement date will be offered a full refund. All entrants will be contacted directly.

We encourage all of those wishing to enjoy a summer of bike racing to get vaccinated and help us get back to doing what we all love. Click here https://covid19.govt.nz/covid-19-vaccines/ for more on how to get vaccinated.
