Cycling New Zealand (CNZ), Mountain Bike New Zealand (MTBNZ) and Cycling New Zealand Schools (CNZS), are excited to announce event hosting opportunities for national and championship level mountain bike events in 2020.
The opportunities available include hosting Oceania Championships, New Zealand’s premier mountain biking event, the Altherm Mountain Bike National Championships, one of six MTBNZ National Event Series, including North Island and South Island XC Champs and rounds of the popular national downhill series, one of three Cycling New Zealand Schools events as well as one of two new championships events for Enduro and Marathon.
Announcing the mountain bike calendar collectively gives clubs and other interested parties full visibility of what opportunities are available. The appointment of hosts will be a collaborative decision by CNZ, MTBNZ and CNZS that considers the calendar as a whole as opposed to selecting hosts on an event-by-event basis. The aim is to increase transparency and give clubs and organisers opportunities that reflect their capabilities and goals.
Together, CNZ, MTBNZ and CNZS are looking for affiliated clubs and/or experienced event organisers to host and/or deliver our national level events and to continue to raise the standard for mountain bike events.
Event hosts must have appropriate event delivering capability and experience, appropriate courses, venues with great riding potential, convenient traveller access, passionate volunteers to support the delivery of the events and share our collective vision to continue to raise the standard of MTB events in NZ and drive participation.
Potential hosts are encouraged to look at all the opportunities available. The delivery models vary across events, please see the specific event Expression of Interest documents below for more details in conjunction with the recently announce Technical Regulations. If you are applying for more than one event, please state your order of preference in your application.
