Marathon & Eliminator MTB National Championships
Cycling New Zealand are excited to partner with the Whaka100 Mountain Bike Marathon to host a dual championship weekend with the 2022 Marathon MTB and Eliminator MTB National Championships being contested from 21 - 23 October 2022 in Rotorua.
Both events are UCI Sanctioned Championships. For more information on entry criteria and categories see Entry Information below.
ENTRY ELIGIBILITY AND CRITERIA
- UCI Categories - Open to NZL riders only (as per your nationality with UCI).
- Non-UCI Categories - Open to all riders
- All riders are encouraged to be a member of a MTBNZ/CNZ Affiliated MTB Club
LICENCING
- All riders in UCI categories must hold a 2022 or 2023 Cycling New Zealand Annual Licence.
- All riders in the Non-UCI categories must hold a 2022 or 2023 Cycling New Zealand Annual Licence OR pay the additional $10 fee for the Cycling New Zealand One-Day Licence.

UCI Categories

Elite - Riders aged 23 or over (as at 31 December 2022)
U23 - Riders aged between 19 - 22 (as at 31 December 2022) Junior - Riders aged between 17 - 18 (as at 31 December 2022)
National Championship medals will be awarded to the first rider in each category. In the case of an U19 or U23 winning the race, only one (Elite) National Jersey will be awarded to that rider.

Sport- For Riders aged between 17 - 29 (as at 31 December 2022)
Masters 1 - For Riders aged between 30 - 39 (as at 31 December 2022) Masters 3 - For Riders aged between 50 - 59 (as at 31 December 2022) Masters 4 - For Riders aged 60 - 69 (as at 31 December 2022) Masters 5 - For Riders aged 70+ (as at 31 December 2022)

LICENCING
- To be eligible for the National title - riders must hold a 2022 or 2023 Cycling New Zealand Annual Licence. Please note, a day license is not available for this event.

AWARD CATEGORIES
This is an open category event, there are two awards available in this event as follows:
- Overall top three overall male and female riders, regardless of whether or not they hold a Cycling New Zealand Licence, will be awarded prize money as follows: 1st $1500 | 2nd $500 | 3rd $350
- The National Championship, the top three licensed male and female riders, regardless of their overall finish result will be awarded the National Championship medals with the top male and female rider being awarded the National Jersey. Please note, there is no master age group categories.
Racing will be conducted under the Mountain Bike New Zealand Technical Regulations and UCI Regulations.
