The 2024 Oceania Track Championships will be held at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome in Cambridge from 14 - 18 February 2024.

 

The best Elite, U19 and Para Cyclists from across New Zealand, Australia, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Guam, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Northern Mariana Islands & Tahiti will battle it out for the prestigious Oceania Championship titles!

COMPULSORY DRUG FREE SPORT TRAINING

All participants taking part in the Oceania Track Championships must complete the Level 1 | Taumata Tahi e-learning course from Drug Free Sport New Zealand before the event. International athletes who have completed anti-doping education in their home country are exempt from this requirement. International athlete education must be confirmed by their Federation before the event.

You’ll learn valuable information about your anti-doping rights and responsibilities and come away knowing what to expect from the doping control process.

On Monday 12 February there will be an in person workshop facilitated by DFSNZ at 11.00am in Velo 1 at the velodrome.

TEAM TRAINING

Clubs can book one or two hour slots of training time for Tuesday 13 February. This is free of charge and clubs may be asked to share. Contact events@cnz.kiwi to book your training time, noting this is not a guaranteed booking until CNZ confirms. ELIGIBILITY

Only athletes who are members of Member National Federations (NF) of the OCC and endorsed by their NF to represent that NF are eligible to enter Oceania Championships. Athletes from OCC Associate Member NFs are eligible to enter but are not eligible to accrue UCI points from participation in the Championships.

  • Group 1 Members - Australia, New Zealand
  • Group 4 Members – American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Guam, Samoa, Solomon Islands & Vanuatu
  • Group 4 Associate Members – New Caledonia, Northern Mariana Islands & Tahiti

             

Riders from outside of the Oceania continental region may compete in individual events at the Oceania Championships subject to approval by the UCI and OCC in consultation with attending OCC NFs.

The team at Velo Addiction will have a stand at the event on Friday (in the infield) and on Saturday and Sunday in the stands. On display and for sale will be the Argon 18 Electron track frameset, Dolan DF4 frameset (Event special $500 off medium and large Dolan DF4 framesets. Was $3,700 now $3,200). Olympic and world championships Velobike wining Bunch Bars, chainrings & sprockets including quality Sugino SG75 144 Black & Silver crank sets, Ceramic BB, Chainring fixing bolts and nuts. Runwell, Park and Wera Tools, Izumi track chains tires and more.

Velo Addiction sell a range of quality track frames including Look, wheels, components, and accessories. If you do not see an item on the day, just ask and they can check their stock or order to your requirements. During the event call Russell on 027 821 9049 for emergency requests.

Entry fees for each individual are $165.00.

Entry fees shall only be applicable to riders from Group 1 National Federations. If you are outside of group 1, please email events@cnz.kiwi to receive a code for your free entry.

ENTRY WITHDRAWS AND REFUNDS

Entries are not transferable.

Refunds may be available if a withdrawal is requested in writing prior to Wednesday 31 January. If accepted a refund of the entry fee less a $25 admin fee will be applied.

MADISON TEAMS

Riders can choose their own Madison pairings ahead of/at the competition. Teams can be club teams or mixed club teams. All Madison team pairings along with team kit/colour must be confirmed at Confirmation of Starters on Tuesday. This is also when Madison race numbers will be allocated and distributed.

 

LICENCING

All riders, team managers and officials are required to hold a 2024 National Licence from their Federation provided they have a valid 2024 UCI ID and insurance for the territory where the event is taking place.

The finals only will be live on the Cycling New Zealand Facebook page. The quality won't be top class so please be patient and know we are trying our best to get this live for you to have the option to watch all the finals remotely.

All Clubs are required to nominate a Team Manager (can be a rider or non-rider).

 

Please email events@cnz.kiwi to appoint your Team Manager.

 

Clubs will be sent a list of riders and their contact details once entries close. Clubs/teams/nations must appoint a Team Manager prior to the event. The Team Manager must attend Confirmation of Starters and the Team Managers meeting, and distribute race numbers, accreditation and any key messages to their riders. 

Team Managers must present a physical or digital copy of every riders licence at the confirmation of starters to the commissaires.

All officials/handlers must be registered by completing this form here in order to receive accreditation into the in-field. Team Officials are limited to 1 x Manager, 1 x Assistant Manager, 1 x Coach, 1 x Development Coach and 1 x Handler per 5 riders by Sunday 11 February.

All team officials must have a 2024 Licence from their National Federation with the appropriate technical endorsement from their Club

The role of the Team Manager includes (but not limited to):
  • Officially representing the club/team at the event
  • Connecting with all riding club/team members
  • Ensuring that all riding club/team members have a current licence
  • Managing the relationship with Event Officials on behalf of club/team members
  • Attending the Team Managers meeting
  • Collecting and distributing Race Numbers to club/team members
  • Circulating Event Information to club/team members
  • Ensuring place getters attend the Medal Ceremony
  • Ensuring riding members have the required information to help them have a safe and fair race.

U19 Category is for riders aged between 17 and 18 as at 31 December 2024
Elite Category is for riders aged 19 to 34 as at 31 December 2024.

Racing will be conducted under UCI regulations and Cycling New Zealand Road & Track racing rules.

 

SANCTIONS

The UCI scale of penalties will apply.
 
Any fines issued are on the Team and are payable by the Team Manager to the Commissaires Secretary at the event or Clubs will be invoiced post event.

 

 

EQUIPMENT

Bicycles must conform with current UCI regulations. 

 

 

RIDER APPAREL

Riders may wear their state institute kit or club kit. National kit may be used in team events (TP, TS and Madison).
The safety of the riders, officials, volunteer and spectators are included in the event planning. 

 

If you have any questions or concerns regarding Health and Safety please report to the Chief Commissaire or to the Event Manager.
